What is the differences of wire harness and cable assembly?

Oct. 13, 2020

Wire harness and cable assembly, the two nouns are often confused. Although they are very different products, the two terms are used interchangeably because of similar basic functions.

Wiring harnesses, also known as cable harnesses or wiring harnesses, are a set of wire cables, or assemblies used for transmitting signals or electrical power. A basic wiring harness may consist only of three inconspicuous components, while more classical wiring harnesses include more lines and other passive potentially active components.

A cable assembly is a collection of cables or wires; includes wiring of different gauges that can be stranded or braided.

Wire harnesses offer a low-cost solution for keeping wires organized, while cable assemblies keep all of the products safe in the most extreme circumstances.
