Automotive Wiring Harness Parts

Cars today are equipped with electronic components that, in addition to the basic operations of moving, turning, and stopping, perform various other functions as well. Wiring harnesses are indispensable in controlling these electronic components, transmitting power and signals to every part of the vehicle. Comprising connectors, terminals, clamps, sheaths, and other elements surrounding a core of electrical wires, they are crucial components akin to the human body's blood vessels and nerves.

Aluminum Harnesses

For the first time in the world, "high-strength aluminum alloy wires" are being used in engine harnesses, which have conventionally used copper wires. This development has resulted in harnesses offering about twice the strength of standard aluminum while maintaining their bending properties, all at a lower cost.

EPB* Harness Integrated with Wheel Speed Sensor

We have succeeded in developing the world's first integrated wheel speed sensor and EPB harness, achieving reductions in both weight and cost. *EPB:Electric Parking Brake

Optical Harnesses

These harnesses instantly transmit large amounts of data used in monitoring conditions around vehicles without being affected by electromagnetic noise.

Wiring Harnesses for Sliding Doors

These convey electric power and signals to electrical components within sliding doors, regardless of whether the door is open, closed, or in operation. This allows opening and closing of the door to be automated.

Antenna Harnesses

These connect the antenna to the receiver, conveying radio, TV, telephone, GPS, and other signals received by the antenna.

Automotive Wiring Harness Parts

Wiring Harnesses and Connectors are part of the wiring systems in your vehicle. A harness is a group of cables or wires that are secured together by proofing material like cable sleeves, lacing, conduit or straps. Wire harnesses have the advantage over loose cables in that they conserve space and provide a strong resistance to vibrations and abrasions in the vehicle. Wire-harnesses also remove any confusion or possible incorrect installation by grouping the wires into a single connection device.

Connectors attach to or pass the wires through a component. They are water and heat resistant. A hard outer shell with a locking clip holds two halves of a connector together. The pins and sockets are crimped to the wire both at the insulation and the bare wire. They are made so that they fit together perfectly, but can also be easily disconnected when needed. A rubber seal encloses all the wires and keeps the wires protected from moisture and other abrasive conditions.

Both harnesses and connectors in your vehicle should be checked periodically for damage or breakage. If any of the electrical components being to work erratically or if you keep tripping up your fuse even when it is replaced, it is an indication that there is a fault in the harnesses or connectors. At Buy Auto Parts we stock a wide variety of wiring harnesses and connectors for every car make and model.

We have genuine OEM replacements and premium aftermarket parts. All our car parts are thoroughly tested and come with a warranty.

What are the components of a wiring harness?

The key components of a wiring harness include

Connectors.

Terminations.

Locks.

Wires.

Cable.

External coverings.

How do I replace my engine wiring harness?

How to replace a broken or damaged wiring harness

Verify that the old and new connectors are identical...

The next step in replacing the harness is to strip the end of the wire...

Twist the end of the wire...

Crimp the insulated connector onto the wire...

Melt the insulated connector to the wire...

Apply electrical tape to the wire.

How can I tell if a wiring harness is bad?

The connection between the wire and that bolt is loose. A problem with the grounding wire, such as the harness rubbing against something or a visible point of failure where water and dirt may be present. Use a jumper wire from the load to a known good ground to confirm if there is a ground side problem.

Can a car be driven without a wiring harness?

Any car can run without a wiring harness, but in most cases you will have a mess of wires everywhere. Purely mechanical cars don't need electricity. The harness only needs to be replaced if the vehicle is so old that the insulation has rotted.

How many wiring harnesses does a vehicle have?

Some modern vehicles contain nearly 40 different wiring harnesses, consisting of about 700 connectors and more than 3,000 wires.

Do you need a wiring harness for an aftermarket radio?

If your vehicle has (or had) a factory stereo, or if it comes pre-installed with a "stereo ready" package, there should be at least one plastic harness behind the stereo opening. This plug connects the stereo to the vehicle's electrical system and speakers.

Do all aftermarket car stereos use the same wiring harness?

All aftermarket car stereos can use the same car stereo wiring harness, but it all depends on what the owner wants to do, one of the main reasons.

What is an ISO wiring harness adapter?

The Wire Harness ISO Stereo Harness Adapter Lead allows you to connect your new aftermarket mainframe to the original radio connector without having to cut any existing wiring... It converts the car's original power and speaker wiring connectors to standard ISO connectors.
