Automotive Wiring Harness


The wiring harness arrangement involves the body and its accessories, powertrain, chassis, electrical, and many other parts. In the design, these elements need to be considered comprehensively, and potential problems will be avoided in the early stage of the wiring harness arrangement, so as to ensure the various performance qualities of the wiring harness later design, manufacturing, and assembly.

 

Consider the fixing and protection of the wiring harness

1. According to the direction of the wiring harness, the specific shape of the body, a reasonable set of fixed points, no pivot point in a straight line distance between the two fixed points is generally not more than 300 mm; in the obtuse corner location can be arranged a fixed point; in the right angle corner point need to be arranged two fixed points; in the harness to avoid sharp corner point.

2. In accordance with the direction and size of the wire harness, reasonably select the fixed snap and mark its location. In the direction of the fixed snap installation, there must be enough space to facilitate the installation and removal of the snap.

3. In order to maintain the clearance between the harness and the periphery, some positions need to use hard pipes or plywood to ensure that the harness is not deformed. In order to ensure the directionality of the wire harness, some positions should be used with positioning clips.

4. In and other wiring harnesses, electrical parts connected to the plug position, in the plug before the appropriate location of not more than 120 mm to increase the fixed point, in order to reduce the plug within the terminal to withstand vibration. In the branch of the main harness to increase the fixed point, the fixed point is not more than 100mm from the pivot point.

5. Do not directly contact with the body sharp edge, to increase protection, to avoid damage to the body sharp edge of the external insulation layer of the wiring harness, vibration or moving parts connected to the plug-in to have fixed, to avoid the transmission of vibration in the wiring harness.

6. When there are more plug-in parts, the position of their fixing should be fully considered, and the harness slot and harness bracket should be designed if necessary. The part of the harness that leaks out and generates friction with the body is protected by bellows.

 

Avoid interference with surrounding parts

1. Uniform, reasonable clearance with surrounding parts; such as seats, consider whether the clearance through the harness is left enough and whether friction with other parts is generated.

2. The clearance between the moving parts should be determined according to the requirements, such as the clearance of the scraper motor linkage, belt, fan, gears, cams, etc. generally require more than 25 mm, and the gearshift mechanism should be fully considered in the arrangement of whether there is interference with the wiring harness.

3. When installed on vibrating or moving parts, depending on the actual situation, the associated wiring harness must be left with sufficient length. This reserved length is determined according to the vibration amplitude of the component and the maximum movement stroke of the moving parts. Ensure that the reserved length can not make the vibration transmission on the harness, not to make the harness under tension.

 

Consider the convenience of installation

1. The plug-in parts of the wiring harness should be arranged in a position that can be reached by hand, or simply remove some body parts after the plug-in parts can be reached. For the plug that can only be plugged and unplugged with one hand, the other end of the plug should be fixed to the body.

2. Do not layout the same type and color of the plugin in the adjacent location, make a good distinction between the plug-in, to avoid misplugging during the assembly process, damage to the wiring harness and appliances.

3. Consider the wire harness and plug over-hole space, over-hole sealing, plug fixed to meet the actual situation in the convenience and efficiency of the threading and plugging operation; such as instrumentation, audio, air conditioning panels, and other electrical parts or switches with a high maintenance rate, the back end of the wire harness is reserved to a length that can be easily plugged.
